NBA Basketball Returns to Desert by Andrew Morales July 29, 2010
Basketball is coming to the desert again. The Indian Wells Tennis Garden plays host to the NBA AutoTrader.com on October 9th, 2010 at 6:30 PM! The third annual outdoors basketball game is being held in our own backyard between the Phoenix Suns playing against the Dallas Mavericks!
In 2008, the first NBA outdoors game held in the modern era since the 1970’s was here. The first was a sold-out Indian Wells Tennis Garden playing host to the Phoenix Suns versus the Denver Nuggets on a chilly and breezy October evening. The Nuggets would outlast the Suns 77-72. A great turnout for the game and a heavy support of the local economy insured the Suns would return.
Last year, the weather cooperated for the Suns’ return to face their Pacific Division rival Golden State Warriors. A 77 degree evening provided for a wonderful match-up between the two clubs. The Warriors nudged the Suns in a tight 104-101 game, but the atmosphere was even more exciting the second time around.
The third NBA Outdoors game features the Phoenix Suns once again, coming off a grueling six-game playoff series with the reigning 2010 champion Los Angeles Lakers.
The Suns will be playing against a Texan powerhouse from Dallas. The Mavericks have made it as far as the 2006 NBA Finals, but have fallen just short in their playoff endeavors ever since. This game promises to be another uniquely exciting event and the only one of its kind in the world! Be there or see the live broadcast in prime time on TNT, you won’t want to miss out on a truly entertaining event!
You can get tickets on Ticketmaster.com or at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden Box Office. Tickets range from $10-$100 for the game. Keep reading the Desert Valley Star for exclusive coverage of the AutoTrader.com Open! |
