REMINDERS
FROM COURT CLERK
1) CHECK YOUR SPELLING There are no provisions in the Business and Professions Code for amending or correcting a filed Statement. Therefore, it is the applicant's responsibility to be sure all spelling is correct and legible, and all information is complete. Once the document is filed, NOTHING on the document can be changed. No refunds will be given.
2) PUBLICATION INFO It is the applicant's responsibility to publish the filed Fictitious Business Name Statement one day a week for four consecutive weeks in a newspaper adjudicated to publish public notices in Riverside County. Publication must be started within 30 days of the file date on the Statement.
3) PICK YOUR BUSINESS NAME The County Clerk's Office cannot tell you what name you can or cannot file as a Fictitious Business Name, except as provided in Sections 17910.5(a), (b) and (c) Business and Professions Code.
4) IS YOUR BUSINESS NAME AVAILABLE? It is the responsibility of the applicant to check all sources available to determine if a Fictitious Name is available to use. This includes corporate filings in Sacramento.
5) WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS TYPE? The County Clerk's Office cannot instruct you as to how your business is conducted, i.e. General Partnership, Business Trust, individual, etc.
If your Fictitious Statement indicates that the business is being conducted by a corporation or limited liability company, or variation thereof, said company must be organized pursuant to the laws of this state or some other jurisdiction. (Section 17910.5 B&P Code)
6) DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK The front and the back of the form should be read carefully and completely.

DBA must be filed with the county clerk and subsequently published in the Desert Valley Star for four consecutive weeks. The first publication must occur no more than 30 days prior to the date of its filing with the county.
Once form is completed either mail or drop off at our Desert Hot Springs office. The deadline for submission of DVA form is Wednesday at noon.
At the completion of the fourth publication of the DBA we file with the County Clerk the Proof of Publication for you (no charge) and will mail this form back to you once received from the county.
